The head of the Food and Drug Organization said: The reason for some shortages in medical equipment is the late supply of foreign currency and the procrastination of foreign companies.

He continued: At the same time as the start of Corona, Iran was able to receive a loan of 45 million dollars for the purchase of the necessary equipment in the first stage. The World Bank loan is given to an international organization and Iran receives the loan through the World Health Organization.
Asadi added: The need to develop the country’s health infrastructure in the fight against Coved -19, made the Ministry of Health once again apply for a second loan from the World Bank. Accordingly, 90 million dollars were received for the purchase of equipment needed to fight against Coved -19.
The deputy of the Economic Coordination Center of the Ministry of Health said: Strengthening the laboratory network and developing treatment in line with the fight against Coved -19 was among the goals of receiving the second loan from the World Bank.
In addition, 42 MRI machines, 13 128-slice CT scans and 2 256-slice CT scans were purchased from the 90 million dollar loan. These purchases have been made and we anticipate that it will gradually enter the country from the second half of March 1401.

He said: The second part of the 90 million dollar loan is related to the strengthening of the country’s laboratory networks, and based on this, a comprehensive laboratory network was formed. More than 1,200 items of required laboratory supplies have been purchased in the form of tenders and from April 1402, they will be transported to the country.
Asadi said: We have often bought capital equipment from Europe, and laboratory supplies were from Europe and China. Their distribution is based on the stratification system and population indicators. So that the universities of medical sciences all over the country announce their needs and we do the distribution based on the indicators.
